I believe this firearm dates from late 1915 or early 1916. Because of this, the barrel, in my opinion, has been replaced. The reason is because the large WINCHESTER logo, if I am correct, as discussed in another post, was not used until later (I believe in 1919). Also, the rear sight is no appropriate for a gun of this era, there are screws missing, the wood to metal fit is poor, and a lot of wear is evident.

I could not get your link to work so here it is again. The receiver is in the right s/n range but, as mrcvs stated, the barrel is wrong.

Doug,
The serial number is definitely in the correct range (March 1916), and there were several other Spruce Guns in the near vicinity that do not have the ordnance marks either, but they do have the "J.C. ’17" marking on them.
As mentioned by the other fellows, the barrel is not original, nor is the cut down mag tube.
I believe that it was an original Spruce Gun, but it is in very rough shape.
