John,
There were no optional barrel lengths for the Model 65. The 25-20 WCF and 32 WCF rifles all had a 22-inch barrel, and the 218 Bee rifles all have a 24-inch barrel. In my survey, I have not found any that were not as listed.

Bert,
if you recall, I have a model 65 with a 24″ 32-20 WIN marked barrel. If I recall, you thought this was a model 43 barrel that was placed on a model 65. The serial number is 1,007,050. The barrel has a filled dovetail on the bottom, that could have been for the forearm attachment on a model 43.

Odd… I do not recall a conversation about Model 65 serial number 1007050 ? Further, I have it listed in my research survey as a 25-20 WCF caliber rifle. Can you remind me when we discussed it ?

The last Model 65 was serial number 1007608 per the Polishing Room records, and it was serialized on 10/23/1945. When regular production was halted to support WW II production efforts, serial numbers had reached 1007438.
It is my belief that all serial numbers > 1007438 were produced to clean up remaining parts on hand, and they were assembled from late September 1945 through December 1950. I believe that your rifle was one of them.
The highest serial number I have surveyed this far is 1007590, and I have a total of (5) rifles in the survey with serial numbers later than your rifle.
