Local shop has a 64 standard rifle, standard rear sight, .219 Zipper. Excellent bore, 90% finish, steel butt, but 4 holes drilled in the receiver side where a scope was mounted. Nice gun but for the holes. He wants $2000. What do you think?

I don’t like it for any price because of the (4) non-factory holes. What is the serial number?

It sounds like a decent deal on your part, as the ammo is not cheap.

The serial number makes it a 1946 production receiver. It should still have the checkered versus serrated hammer.

If you get curious enough, please check the barrel date.

Wolfbait, I would like to see some photos if at all possible, I find it interesting that my newly found rifle and yours are only 486 apart in production with mine being number 1375314, my barrel date was 37

The shop has another one, very close serial number. It is not made for bolt peep and has tang markings. About 80% all original with a micrometer sight. 32 Special. Asking price $800, I don’t know how that is.

A standard Model 64 rifle in 32 W.S. is about the least desirable configuration that was made. The caliber is on the bottom of the list, and the plain configuration is at the bottom of the list. In that caliber, the bolt should not be milled for a sight. Can provide survey information for it?
