Just picked up a real nice model 62 #6533, I believe it was made in there first year 1932. Does anybody know how many were made the first year? and where this fits in their numbering? Also Is a first year rifle worth any more in value? Will try to post some pics. later Terry

10,776 per the PR records. From what I’ve seen, any of the pre-war versions of the models of that era will bring a premium and I’m guessing quite a few collectors will find a first year gun a little more desirable. I personally like the look of the 62 with the short forearm better than the 62A. They are a nice looking little pump and lots of fun to shoot. I sure enjoy mine.

Terry,

Production of the Model 62 began in March of 1932. Serial number 6533 went through the PR in June of 1932. There are some who will pay a slight premium for a first year production Winchester, but there are those who won’t.

Have a question on the buttplate, It has the checkered steel one, I thought these had the black plastic ones. Or did they use them on the real early ones? Terry

I have a 62 that was made in 1937 , real nice shape ! Bought it from a guy that said it was passed down to him by his grandfather . I could not believe he wanted to sell it ? After meeting with him and looking over the gun, I bought the gun and think I got a good deal on it ..
