The other gun I ran up on today was a first year 61 octagon in 22 short. The serial number is 2949 but it has a triangle with an "l" in it right beside the serial number. What is that for?

Mike,

It is an inspectors stamp.

Mikec,

In my survey of Model 61’s I have not seen an inspectors mark stamped near the SN. On the face of the receiver they are common. Do you have a photo possibly?
