Hey Guys , I have a model 70 carbine (20") barrel in 250-3000 savage. It is in excellent original condition. My question relates to the very unusual scope and mounting bases. It has a Kahles -Wien , Helia -26- scope That has a quick release from the Kahles -Wien bases. The bases are very fancy engraved bases that are silver soldered to the receiver. Extremely good craftsmanship and fit. The scope rings are one piece , so I think they had to be put on at the scope factory , and the rear ring is on the scope tube as usual , but the front ring is on the BELL of the scope. Very unique and attractive , and unusual . Anyone ever seen anything like this ?? Thanks—Ken
Sounds exactly like a purely European setup. Scope supplied and work accomplished there. Interesting! By just a couple of sentences into your post I’d formed the opinion stated above, photos required for any meaningful response. Even then, people in such as a Mauser forum might well have more experience with the mounts you are describing. The interesting rifle underneath may be Winchester, but your questions seem focused on the scope and mounts. Particularly if your system is Interwar, the below link may be useful as a source or for their expertise in referral.
I hope that you do follow through with pix here if possible!
Good luck
