I don’t know if this is a common problem or just mine? When mounting either a Lyman or Marbles tang sight the screw heads are always sticking up way too high, not even close to fitting in the counter bored head cut out. These are original sights not the newly manufactured ones. Any ideas on a fix for this problem?

Are you using original Lyman tang screws? When Lyman sold the sights, they included both screws needed to mount it. If you are using the original Winchester tang screw, the head is way to large to fit in the countersunk hole in the base of the sight.

Unfortunately the modern manufacture of both these companies is extremely poor. The staffs are wobbly and often sit at the wrong angle
It is a bit of an embarrassment that they knew how to manufacture 100 years ago, and now their products are pitiful

I have tried the ones Lyman are putting out to-day and the ones on ebay that list as replacement screws for original tang sights. Nothing I have tried is even close to what I am looking for.
