Something seems odd about the bluing over all but the receiver and end cap stick out the most. That’s the experts opinions?
The pictures are so bad it hard to tell if it has blue on it but the corners are rounded enough that it either has been refinished or is just worn real bad.

I started to look at this one, but stopped once I saw the two extra holes in the receiver and the wrong butt plate. It made me wonder about the butt stock as well since the plate fit good. The stock screws are buggered up and the wood looks chipped like the stock has been off. As for the bluing, I’m with Bob that the pictures are terrible and its hard to tell what you have. Overall, it doesn’t look right to me as most of the 55’s have more of a flakey looking finish. I would pass on this one.

Most M55’s were from the period when they flaked real bad. So, I am guessing that a lot of them were refinished. I have one with very little flaking but a good amount of honest wear. Hard to tell on these pics, that’s why I would rather buy my guns at a good gun show where I can physically see them. If it has extra holes, it ain’t worth buying. Big Larry
OK,
The hard rubber butt plate is original (albeit special order), and that it where the good news ends
The receiver frame has most certainly been reblued, it has two extra holes in it. The tang sight is not the correct one (and there is an extra hole drilled & tapped in the upper tang to mount it). Some idiot stamped the serial number on the take down extension ring (he must have been looking at a Model 97 or Model 12 shotgun and thought that he needed to mark it on that rifle after he buffed, polished, and reblued it.
