This made me smile. When I started collecting, the consensus was you couldn’t hardly give a .25-20 away. This one is not engraved, not special order, not mint. It is very nice of course. But still, this is a lot of money for a plain, late production .25-20.

In my opinion the gun would only be worth this money if it were antique and in a better caliber.

I doubt the one I have has the original barrel. IIRC it was built too soon for that, but Winchester offered a deal to re-barrel them with the stainless barrel for a time at the end of production. I could be wrong though.
