OfflineHello,
New to the group and excited to hear some feedback from collectors. I recently purchased this 1894 Deluxe in .38-55. I am not familiar with the magazine or if this changes the value of the firearm. I purchased the 1894 in .25-35 with it. Any information would be helpful.

OfflineWelcome! The half magazine and half-round barrel appeal to many collectors (including me!) but I don’t recognize the checkering pattern.

The checkering on that rifle is Winchester’s “I” pattern, commonly used on those pistol grip stocks made from plain walnut. The fancier walnut generally came with the more extensive “H” checkering pattern.
I think the pistol grip stock, 1/2 octagon barrel and takedown feature make this a great rifle with truly excellent balance.
FYI: serial #123759 was made in 1901.

It does appear to have been re-blued, but also long enough ago that there is fading and normal wear marks. S/N is 123759. Here are some more pictures.
