Hello,

I’ve been all over the Internet, called Winchester, and landed on this good forum.  I cannot seem to find what the twist rate would have been in a 1964 manufacture Model 70 chambered in .225 Win (22” barrel).  Could anyone point me to a resource, or perhaps might know the answer?

Thank you

You bet. That is still one of my favorite cartridges for varmints. With the 14 twist it is ideal for 50 & 55 grain bullets, and is right on the heels of the 22-250.

Thanks, Steve.  I’m glad to hear it works well for 50 or even 55.  I wondered if it would be too slow for those, and that I’d need to drop down.  There’s nice molds for that range of bullet.  This is my first attempt at reforming cartridges (from 30-30) and casting or swaging for rifle.  I’m really looking forward to working with it.  I appreciate your help.

We’ll since you put it that way… LOL

I’m interested in trying cast, gas check bullets, for reduced loads. More to learn!
