The 375 spacing was 1.240″ C-C would be the correct spacing for a 1953 rifle. Straight taper 375’s had a 1.760″ C-C spacing for the 2 holes on top of barrel. These never had sights mounted in the holes. These barrels were the same dimensions as the heavy target barrel used on the target model, which had a telescope mounting base attached in those particular holes. The straight taper 375’s that I own both have 22G sights in a dovetail behind the 2 holes. This barrel would not have been used on a 53 rifle, they were all pre wars.
