Hello! i have a Win 94 Eastern Carbine serial number 1,267,094 that i got from a buddy of my granddads years and years ago.  He claimed to have got it when he got back from WW2 and used it sparingly to hunt deer here and there.  Kept it stored properly so it has all original beautiful bluing etc.  Not in mint condition mind you but he took care of it thats for sure. Doesnt have bluing wear from being carried by the receiver etc.  Just a nice pre war ish 94 carbine.

I would like to know for sure when it was made and if the eastern carbine does anything for collectability at all or ?

I tried to post a couple pics thru IMGBB by copying the url but it said PICS NOT AVAILABLE or something of the sort inside of this post so i deleted them.  I just joined the IMGBB and have not had to use a pic host in a couple decades so not sure i even did it properly.  I hit share and then copied link and put that in the insert image box here on this site.  ???

Thanks for any help with this and if you can guide me to how to post these pics i can do so as well.

In my collection, I have # 1264772, which is very close to yours. Mine shipped 2-3-1941. Mine has a small “W” on the bottom of the receiver and I would bet, yours does as well. It is a 30-30 and near mint. Sorry, I have no pics. Posting pics here is very easy. Just follow directions. Big Larry

To clarify, only WACA members can directly upload pictures to the forums.  Anyone can post a URL to stored pictures.

Hello Rob,

Your Model 94 is not actually an “eastern” Carbine.  Instead, it is a Standard Model 94 Carbine that was manufactured in mid February 1941.  The true “eastern” Carbines were manufactured before April 1932 (with Nickel Steel barrels, a No. 44A Carbine ladder sight, and the old style carbine butt stock).

Your Carbine has a Proof Steel barrel, a 22-G sporting rear sight, and a shotgun style butt stock with a serrated steel butt plate.  It may or may not have a “W” stamped below the serial number.  It was in the 1265300 – 1267600 serial number range when Winchester stopped stamping the “W” marking on the bottom of the receiver frames.

You can send the pictures of your Carbine to me via email – [email protected]

Bert
