Good evening
I have just joined from South Africa and this is my first post as I have the opportunity to purchase a Winchester Model 92 SRC manufactured in 1920 and wanted to ask your expert advice on whether it is worth the price of approximately $400.
Apologies for the poor quality photos but any advice would be much appreciated.
Kindest regards
Jordan
It appears to be an unmolested example in original condition. It is well used and has suffered surface deterioration from handling wear and indifferent storage but I like the fact that the screws appear to be all original and basically unturned along with the correct rear sight and original stocks. Certainly a very good buy at twice the asking price in my humble opinion.

Thank you Rick, I have pulled the trigger on it this evening (sorry!) and I really appreciate your advise so very much! I will keep you updated.

Welcome, Jordan! As noted above it appears to be a very well-worn but honest specimen. I’d venture a guess that the bore and mechanicals are in decent shape, in my opinion well worth the $400.

I’d buy them all day at $400 a pop .
Agreed, closest I can get to expert advice is buy any you find at that price.

Thank you everyone for your kind advice.
Unfortunately it turns out it was too good to be true and I have been scammed. Michael pointed out that the photos were from an auction in the States back in 2016. It was too late however and money is gone, seller has disappeared and no rifle exists.
I do feel like a right fool.

having learned by experience, allways pay using PayPal, they give the seller 10days to reply to your (PayPal) dispute, if no reply you get a full refund.
Dammit! Sorry to hear that but not the end of the world, don’t let it discourage your collecting and always come by here and post up if you’re ever worried about a listing etc. I always get great help and am just now inching towards being able to make my own decisions comfortably, thanks to all the help I received here over the last few years.
When Jordan contacted me I was happy to possibly get a rifle from outside the US. Then, when I entered the SN into my spreadsheet it was already there! Hmm? On a gun that was supposedly in S Africa. I opened the image file that I had for that SN and the images were the same!!! I was pretty sure what was happening. Regretfully I was driving from Chicago to Houston on that day so my computer time was limited and by the time I got a reply to Jordan after 17 hours on the road the deal was done.

I really appreciate you trying to help me Michael. I’ve put it behind me now and won’t fall for that again! Thank you again though for trying 🙏
