I have a 1906 .22, #157449. Madis says 1909, but it has a 1911 patent date on the barrel. Another Madis error?

Schwing also says 1909. Possibly a barrel replacement or change out ?? If you can post a pic of the entire lettering on the barrel it will help determine exactly what you have.

Identical circle WP on barrel and receiver. Barrel marked Mod. 06.

I believe 1909 is the correct date based on the polishing room records. I think Erin is on the right track with a replaced barrel. A barrel taken from another rifle will also have a WP proof as well. Is there a barrel date on the underside?

Would the bottom barrel date be visible without disassembly?

If the barrel is marked “MOD. 06”, it is positively a replacement barrel.

Usually the magazine tube must be removed to see the date. Probably not worth disturbing it at this point.
