Hi burt. See your online my 1895 in 30US. 24in barel #15278 under forarm a circled VP Y ISN.  v and where forarm butts up to reciever a P where barel treads into .  Can you give me an exact dom and tell me anything about the markings on bottom of barel under forarm . Thanks again .  Tom.  Indiana

Serial number 19567 was the last Model 1895 made in the year 1898. I would estimate that your Model 1895 was manufactured in the Fall of 1898. To get the exact date, you need to contact the CFM records office, which I highly recommend doing, as it will also confirm what the original barrel length was (24-inches is a non-standard length for the 30 US cartridge).

The “VP” in the oval is “Violent Proof”. I suspect that the “ISN” is the steel maker. The other markings are most likely inspection stamps applied during the process of making the barrel.
