This serial number is noted in Bert’s list of Spruce guns as a “possible fake.”  Before I went to his list to verify the serial number, I was considering contacting Cabelas to have it transferred to a Cabelas nearby to take a look at.  What are the tell-tale signs of this being a fake?  Just looking for an education on these.

It’s the martial markings.  They just don’t look quite right.

I am changing it to a definite fake on the Spruce Gun list. The flaming ordnance bomb is positively not correct. Additionally, the serial number is too early.

I believe I have another alleged Spruce gun in my data list that has the same US and ordnance bomb marks.  Very suspect.
