Is there any info.on the pencil barrel 1894’s, as far as numbers, scarcity, etc.? I’m probabably asking a question that has been discussed before, but I am relatively new to the forum[couple yrs],and very seldom see them on the market. I do not have one,but would like to buy one.Just don’t want to get hosed because of my ignorance. Not new to collecting winchesters; just trying to get a feel for values. I have checked the red book of winchester values.Just looking for more info. on numbers. thanks, Doug

Doug,

My research survey indicates that 4.15% of the Model 1894 production through serial number 1,000,000 were ELWs. That would equate to 41,500 made. The ELW was a standard catalogued variation.

Hey Bert,

Any idea on how many 1894 Pencil barrels came in the Traveler configuration with interrupted threads?

Bob,

I will assume that you are asking about the Take Down ELWs, and in answer to your question, the majority of all ELW rifles were manufactured in the Take Down configuration.  In my survey, nearly 90% of all ELW rifles are Take Downs.
