I don’t have my books with me so I wanted to ask you guys quickly. Serial number 92419 SRC in 38-55. It has matching assembly numbers on the butt stock, tang and lever(397). The hammer matches the lever 100% in finish but has no "V" notch in the checkering. When did they stop this?
Mike,
The Type-1 hammer (with the widows peak) was used at least as late as serial number 171608. The earliest serial number that I have confirmed with the Type-2 hammer is 183103. I admittedly have not been tracking that particular manufacturing change for very long. I will narrow it down further in the coming years.
In regards to serial number 92419 having a Type-2 hammer, I personally would be suspicous of it.

My M1894 # 175601 is a little late for the widows peak hammer, but has one that is case colored and very pretty. It is a very early 32 WS Takedown. Big Larry
