Is this a legitimate 18" trapper? I suspect that the barrel has been shortened, but I wanted to see what others think.

I do not see anything that concerns me about it.

It looks like it has the standard length forearm. Aren’t the trapper carbines supposed to have the shorter (8 3/8" I believe) forearm? Also, should the crowned muzzle face be blued or in the white?

Don,

Not all shorter than standard "trapper" carbines have the shorter forend, especially those with 18" or 19" barrels.

Carbines always have a crowned & blued muzzle. It is only the Rifle barrels that were uncrowned and in the white.

I’m with Burt, I don’t see anything wrong with it.

The standard length forend would be correct for an 18 inch trapper, they used the shorter FE on the 16 inch and shorter trappers.

I have seen carbines with both blued ad white muzzles.

That’s a nice 18 inch trapper in a desirable caliber, I don’t have an 18 incher

Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback. However, I’m a bit confused. Remember the long debate regarding that former Renneburg-owned 18" Trapper carbine that had the long forearm but the forearm band covered the barrel address? It was argued by some that it originally had the short forearm wood. Here is the link:
