The button magazine configuration on 1892 carbines isnt rare and its not common either. They are around but dont crop up for sale that often. Ive owned several of them over the years.

Also of note, Cape Outfitters bought all the good guns that were confiscated from you by the police and many were button mags. I know this as I was semi involved, albeit from N.Z. Funny, San Francisco did the same thing kinda,[ Get guns off the street] and old ladies and such gave double rifles, I. E. VALUABLE, STUFF, the mayor had his pick and on down through the pd. The junk was dumped in the Faralon islands on tv. Governments doing the usual.

That’s because all the half mag Winchester’s carbines and rifles came to Australia, lol.but seriously it’s hard to find full mag wins out hear.Tony
I have found this to be very true based on the rifle from Australia which I have included in my research survey of the 1892’s. The majority are half mag guns regardless if they are SRC’s or sporting rifles.

Hello Fred,
Can I please get the serial number and some photos of the rifle so that I can add it into my survey of the 1892’s?
Thanks so much
