I am wondering if anybody knows about the sight on the Winchester 45-70. I know the rifle is from Japan but most of the 86’s have a trang safety.. I ask the dealer if the safety had been disabled and removed but he did not know.

I don’t think the earliest Browning 86’s had the tang safety.

Sight is marked CSA for C. Sharps Arms of Big Timber, Montana. I guess the only way to know if the rifle was made with a tang safety would be to pull the tang sight.

I ask the seller if the rifle would safety cock. All he said was the rifle did not have a safety I guess that means the sight is installed over the safety. . I knew this was a new Winchester but have a friend who is looking for a 45-70 to hunt with.
