All,
Am interested in an 1886 Rifle, SN 11426, that has a 32″ barrel. It has an accompanying letter from CFM and is a 45-70 caliber.
It is a relatively plain gun except for the barrel length, which I think is pretty awesome. Somebody had to be committed to want to lug this thing around in the bush!

The Madl Book says there were only 574 made with a 32″ barrel, of which 374 were muskets.
It looks like the cased color hardening has darkened beyond recognition, although the photograph quality may be suspect.
Any comments about the rarity and value would be appreciated.
