What are your opinions on this rifle?. My interests are both originality, and shooting the guns I have. I have purchased a nicer 73 38-40 from this gentleman in the past. Gunbroker purchaser pockets are very deep, and as a novice I think I have done pretty good in the past. This cal doesn’t seem to come up for sale to often, and depending on price it may find its way to my home. Gunbroker item 983329769.

Nice looking rifle. If indeed the blue is original I’m guessing it goes for north of 7k
There was a member who just a couple days ago, mentioned his favorite Model 1886 shooting caliber was the .40-82. I’ve had multiple examples in both the M1886 as well as the Marlin M1895. I prefer the .40-82 over the .40-65 and the .38-56. I don’t have it in my hands of course, but it looks like a nice clean piece. I agree with the prediction of north of $7,000.
