This past July, a friend passed away, leaving behind a number of guns. Remington sporting rifles, Hepburns, Sharps and Winchester single shots. I saw these guns several years ago and having known him for nearly 50 years, the condition and quality is unsurpassed. I will be looking at this collection in February. I will be looking at several of the Winchester hi-walls, two of which are in .405 and one, which I believe is marked .50 Express. If her list is correct on serial numbers, one .405 #110827 is a solid frame, the other .405 #113105 is a takedown. The .50 is marked .50 Express #76176. My question is, how many of each were made.
There are (43) 405 WCF high-walls that letter, and I have thus far found (4) in the 110000 – 139999 serial number range (which includes the two you just mentioned). I already had serial number 110827 listed in my survey. Serial number 113105 is a new entry. Accordingly, I would like to get more information about it. I suspect that Winchester manufactured at least 12 – 15 high-walls in 405 WCF that are outside of the letterable range, which would bring the total to approximately (65).
The 50 EX. (50-110) has a slightly higher survey count, with (99) in the letterable serial number range, and (3) more that I have verified in the 110000 – 139999 serial range.

These Remington’s are top of the line for condition.
By any chance, is there either a #3 (Hepburn) or #5 RB in .30 US? Or any #2s? [email protected]

Seriously, these guns are for sale. If you’re truely interested, I’ll see if I can get a list of what is available, as well as prices. These Remington’s are top of the line for condition. Some are near new. Most were purchased between 1960 and 1975.
Rick keep me in mind if the highwall in 50 EX comes up for sale. Like Bert, I have a weakness for this model.
