I was at a gun show today and I walked up behind a guy who was looking at gun cases. He had an old case in his hands with about 3 inches of a buttstock sticking out of it. It was a Winchester logo "rubber" pad. I asked to see it and he pulls out his "baby" that he only brought to the show to check size of the new case. Said it wasn’t for sale and then changed his mind when I made an offer. Here’s the fact sheet.
Serial 86212 Rifle, 45-70, #3 barrel, 32", double set trigger and rubber shotgun butt. Gun is a solid 85-90% blues high wall that is absolutely gorgeous. I’ll post pics shortly. How common is this configuration guys?

Mike,

There is almost no such thing as "common" or "uncommon" as it applies to the Model 1885 Single Shot Rifle.

The No. 3 barrel is standard. The 32" length is quite common (I have documented more than 2,100 rifles thus far with that length). The close-coupled set trigger is also quite common, as is the shotgun butt. Now, and with all of that stated, the combination of the special order features makes it an uncommon rifle, and quite desirable.

Wow that looks like a beauty. 😯 I have tables at a local show this weekend and haven’t found a single gun that appealed to me, with the exception of what was on my own table. I would love to stumble on to something like that at one of our shows. Great find!

Thats a Jewel. You were in the right place at the right time! How is it that no one has put Target sights on it yet?.

Ill bet the Uberti is a good value for a shooter. I know the Browning BPCR is a great gun for the money, if only it had a set trigger and was in 32-40 (are we allowed to talk about replicas ?)

Our club has a pretty active BPCR group and a couple of the guys have the Uberti version and seam to do very well with the rifle.
