Looks like somebody got a pretty good deal on this one–if it’s correct/original. Just missing the rear sight though. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like it may be an open-top with no dust cover, too.
It looks like it was exported at one time.

I bet they’re going to have a hell of a time finding a nickel plated reverse SRC 76 sight to go on it.
Any idea what the asking price was?

I just read the article from the Fall 1982 Winchester Collector magazine on this website. The article is on page 4 and 5 and is titled “Model 1876, The First Carbine” by Leyton Z. Yearout. Very interesting–I wonder if this is one of those rare first model carbines produced without the safety feature on the hammer. This article even mentions a nickel plated carbine just like the Cabelas gun. Sounds like it is on the rare side. You rarely see any great bargains at Cabelas, but I think someone got away with a steal of a deal on this one.
