Someone a while back on EBay I believe must of been CNC machining some. They looked very well done, and the seller must of made a small run on them. They were selling regularly for a while at $125-150 a pop. Along with some 1st model dust covers. They were all non-blued still in the white.
I haven’t seen them on Ebay in a while. I guess whomever was making them stopped. If anyone knows who they were. I would love to have some contact information. I wouldn’t mind having one of the 1st model covers they made. They were much nicer than the Italian covers.
Sincerely,
Maverick

Thanks guys. Neither source had any for sale but I’ve convinced myself that the one that is on the gun is perfectly legit even after having been told by 1873 "experts" that it was a replacement. See below:

Looks good to me and the patina on it looks real. They were not Impressed in with a die, they were hand cut and that one is hand cut.

I have to agree with Bob, given the patina, wear, and thumb print cuts it looks original. Ive seen quite a few reproductions and they don’t come close to the original.

Have you taken the cover off and examined the underside of it. Depending of what you find, there are some tail tail signs of it being a reproduction or not.
One dead give away is if it is stamped "Italy" on it.
There are also other signs to look for.
Sincerely,
Maverick
