has anyone seen a sideplate on a 1866 with an m stamped on it the rifle was supposed to be a musket but is now a carbine it has a 5 digit serial number round bbl early style extractor brass buttplate carbine style rear sight.would like to verify if was a winchester change at the factory thanks for any help,
Pictures will help a lot because you say its a rifle that was suppose to be a musket and is now a carbine which leaves me confused. I know in the 73’s they took carbines and turned them into muskets. Picture of where what is stamped will help.
