The value of 9417 rifles seem to have increased 400 percent since the closing of the factory in Hartford 2006. Not bad for a short 11 years.
This model was produced only two years 2003 and 2004. I am looking for production records. Winchester employee verbally conveyed the number 6250 as the total production number when I enquired in 2008. I thought it would be fun to try and validate that number. The earliest serial number I’ve found is F760803. This early 2003 date is based information reported on serial number F762303 purported to be another 2003 production rifle.
Any of the membership can help by providing Serial numbers of rifles seen on trade tables or personal gun box examples. Your help capturing this historical data very much appreciated. If this effort is fruitful and satisfying to the efforts of all, later possible subsets could be
9422 trappers or maybe 9410 lever shotguns.
How far this can go, depends on you. Ready, Set, Fun for all, all for fun..
I was logging in 9422/9417/9410 serial numbers for awhile and recorded 2 dozen 9417s ranging from a low of F759391 to a high of F7711157. That is about 12,000 rifles sandwiched between 9422 serial # F755707 and 9422M numbered F773242. Perhaps they did 6250 each year for 2003 and 2004.
I’ve also noted 4 gray laminates with “LTD0XXX” serial numbers – out of supposedly 500 made for Davidson’s.
