Hi Bert,
I believe this is a new entry for your survey of the S.F.P.D. marked carbines.

Bert,
Do you know if the one currently on GB is verifiable as one of the eighty?
Can you share your most current survey list of the SFPD marked guns? I have sn 1082914.
Thanks,
Al
Al,
There is no documentation (list) for any the (80) SFPD Model 94 Carbines. The one currently on GB is the real thing, and is correct.

Hi Bert,Here’s a little bit of documentation. It contains the serial numbers of mine and Al’s S.F.P.D. carbines. I believe Al has the original. Thanks to Al–he sent me a copy a couple years ago.
Don
Thanks for the revised list Bert.
Don, Yes, I have the original. Rick Hill sent it to me when I bought his.

Don,Thanks for sharing that. Mine isn’t on that letter (1074628) but it’s cool to see.

This is the only Winchester I have with “provenance.” I didn’t know this document existed when I bought the rifle. I posted it on this forum and many thanks to Al for sending me a copy. I’m thrilled to have it to go along with the rifle. Now it would be cool to find an original 1920’s-1930’s S.F.P.D. badge to go with it. Lots of fakes and repros of those out there though.

Yea, it certainly is fun to have these sorts of things. I can’t really afford the high condition stuff (my collection is of “honest rifles” as is often the reference) so these gems are great conversation starters. I also have a Spruce Gun (with a “Loyal Legion of Loggers and Lumbermen lapel pin) and the best thing about both of these is that even the tiniest story peaks the interest of many folks who wouldn’t otherwise be interested.
Putting an old gun in context has converted several of my “black gun shooting” range buddies into “Winchester curious” at the very least.
