Has anybody ever confirmed a Winchester model 61 with factory mounted scope on smooth topped receiver ?

I just sent payment foe one that appears correct but haven’t got it in hand yet.

Thanks

Without a sales receipt or similar documentation, I don’t know how it could be confirmed.  What kind of scope?  Hope you didn’t pay a “factory mounted” price.

Bought at reasonable price . It has period Weaver scope and mount . The finish on both is excellent .

Purchased by sellers aunt in 1951 and left to sellers father who never used it and left to his son the seller and now mine

when it arrives . I just thought somebody could shed some light on how to prove factory installation or aftermarket .

My feeling is it was installed by the selling dealer. But who knows ????

Very plausible.  For a time after the factory got out of the scope biz altogether, Lyman scopes could be ordered & mounted, but by ’51, I think scope installation had become the customer’s responsibility.  You could date the scope by knowing exactly when Weaver began using removable caps on the adjustments, which occurred between 1949 & the mid-’50s, but I can’t pin it down closer than that.

Thanks Clarence ,

That is another idea for exploration . I will look into that when it arrives .
