I just purchased a model 1894 short rifle, sn 143826, 32 ws, 24″ octagon barrel, full mag, take-down, semi deluxe, set trigger, sling and swivels, lyman front and rear sights.
I posted pictures of it on your post about the nice semi deluxe you bought that letters with Vernier sights.

My apologies, Gary. Another member has examined the rifle bearing the above serial number and apparently my notes about this short rifle were in error. I haven’t located my notes yet but apparently I was looking at two different short rifles. I recall looking at the rifle Nick is considering purchasing and it’s not the rifle I described, his description of the short rifle bearing that serial number is correct as I recall. I’ll check in at the orphanage to see if they still have the rifle I described.
Again, I’m sorry that I supplied inaccurate info for your survey.
