Does the current scoped configuration look factory original as the seller is suggesting?

No, not really. The (WP) proof marks were usually placed on the side of the receiver/barrel of the 57 (but not always) so some sellers think that is an indicator of a factory scoped 57 but it is not. Winchester typically used the A5 to factory scope the 57 and then the Lyman 5A after that and used a two-piece base on the 57 (although they would do just about anything for the paying customer). The quality and price bracket of the Lyman Junior scope and mount is beneath the quality and accuracy of the Model 57 so I doubt it is a factory job.

Thank you for your in-depth learning lesson. My main interest has been with the lever-guns, but this one caught my eye. Don’t know a whole lot about the rim-fires yet.
