This is the only one I have ever seen.  Has anyone seen any others?  Just trying to get an idea of rarity.

Thanks,

I purchased a grab bag of parts, holsters and such about 9 years ago.

At the bottom, were two slings, one with the fish hooks.

It had the dates and looked very similar other than more wear to the leather.

Per usual it went to a buddy in a round of trading.

I bought a Winchester sling at the Denver show in May.  It’s identical to the one on Gunbroker.  Anyone know what the one on GB sold for?

IRS should audit the buyer.

I knew they were rare, but I’m very surprised at such a high price.  Found mine in a box of junk under a table at the above mentioned show.

WOW! Would expect it to be in much better condition for about half that price. Shows what little I know!

I own a business called Old West Reproductions.  For the past 40 years, I’ve reproduced 1849 to 1900 period holsters, cartridge belts and many other items from my collection.  One of the items I added back in the early 90’s was a reproduction of a Henry Rifle sling.  When I first considered this addition to the product line, I started searching for the fish hook sling swivel.  It didn’t take long to find them.  I contacted Sarco and they happened to have 300 of them in stock.  I was told that this was the last batch they would be able to get, so I bought all 300 swivels at $1.00 each plus shipping.  I can’t remember how long they lasted, but I’m guessing around 7 years.  This is the same fish hook that now sells for $50.00 a pair.  I kept a dozen back for myself, but all the rest are gone.  If I had only known what the future would hold for these fish hook swivels.

Now were these the same that for many yrs Buckingham’s advertised & sold at shows?  Price in the ’90s was around $25/pair, I think, & I bought several sets. Can’t remember if he called them repros, but they were, & very good ones.

I have no idea, because I don’t remember ever seeing a pair of the ones he sold.  These are exactly like the ones in the GB photo and the ones used on the Winchester sling I bought in Denver. Nicely polished, blued and the same shape and size.  You can’t tell the difference.

Remember now that another dealer was selling them, not only Buckingham; forget the name, but also an importer of very well made repro sights, & other accessories, located in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

That’s it. Their repro sights were pretty close to the originals in quality, & very reasonably priced.  A shame they went under.
