Can anyone tell me when Winchester changed the wording on their boxes of 50-round black powder revolver ammo from “Central Fire” to Center Fire”.  

Before or after 1898?

“Central-Fire” used before 1898, “Center-Fire” used after 1898. 

Ray’s book is a good buy and I highly recommend it.

Also Ray’s wife, Mrs. Giles is a very nice lady and very helpful at their table at gun shows.
