Howdy guys.
I am looking for some box dates for a few “Cowboy” loads for the 44-40 as well as a few code stamp examples. Was hoping someone would be interested in participating.
During the advent of Cowboy Action Shooting, Winchester was gratious enough to provide shooters with factory “Cowboy Action” loads. It would appear to start with the Blue box with cowboy on horse about 1992. I was wonder what the run dates were for this box design. Something like maybe, as an example…1991-2000 with a stamp code example of ME92 on the inside of the flap which would date 29 November 1992.
Looks like the next run box design was the brown box with cowboy on horse maybe from 2000-2015 with an example flap stamp code of BG61 for a date of 16 July 2008.
Maybe the third and current box would be the decorative Super-X Old West Town box. I have to even see one in person or even see a flap stamp code.
Can anyone correct the following because I know it is nowhere accurate.
1991-2000 – Blue Box
2000-2015 – Brown Box
2015-pres – Grey Super-X Old West Town
