Some kind of advertising, looks to be cloth, maybe felt. 13 1/2″ wide 10 1/2″ high. Sort of a tan background with green and black letters. hard to get a picture of, it shows reflections like a mirror. Is in a frame.IMG_2885.JPGImage Enlarger

It is a Winchester Counter-top Felt Advertisement. Winchester made a slue of different versions of it over the years. The reflection your seeing is from the glass of the picture frame of the camera flash. When I get a minute I post some images of what they look like. A while back I had posted on the forum a period photograph of one of these counter felts sitting inside a store. Can’t find that photo right this minute.

Winchester wasn’t the only company to make these type of counter top advertisements.

Sincerely,

Maverick

And here is an example of another manufacturer’s felt. I have seen these made by almost everybody from back in the pre-WWII time frame.

I couldn’t find that period photograph of one of these Winchester Felts sitting on a Hardware counter-top. I think I may have it on my work computer.

Thus far I’ve only seen one fake of these counter felts. And it was an obvious fake at that.

Sincerely,

Maverick

Thanks for the information. I knew it was the glass causing the reflection…..

It looks like the one in your pics, top row 2nd from left below the “22” advertisement.

Any idea when made? Thanks again……………..Tad

If you would send me a PM as a reminder, so I can remember to look at my research on what I have so far. Otherwise I’ll just be guessing, plus I’m trying to get stuff ready for this weekend in Tulsa. So I’m currently in a different mind set.

Sincerely,

Maverick
