I picked these two pieces up recently at an auction. I don’t know much about them. I thought some of you might. These were from a collector that dabbled in a large assortment of brands but he did have a good number of Winchester items. He had a card on the one saying it was a {Very rare Winchester WW I “General Patton” pewter toy soldier gift card given to gun purchasers in the 1950’s. A very rare piece of Winchester history!} I have never seen one before so I went after it. My father bought me a Model 50 back then. I wonder if he got one of these. The other is a well kept poster. I like them both and I hope you enjoy see them. Size wise the bottom one is a 5 1/2 X 8 cardboard and the top is 11 X 15 1/8 paper 🙂

WWI Patton was a no higher then a Colonel. He was promoted to brigadier general in Oct of 1941.

SO is the pewter figure from WWI or from a time when Patton was a General. And if from WWI era Patton wasn’t that special at the time.

Only Winchester Patton was really associated would have been the M1 Garands made by Winchester. And then only by his praise of them.

As he carried A Colt Single Action Army and a S&W .357 Mag. both Ivory handled. And both in hip holsters.

I don’t know is the answer I would have to give to your query about the Patton toy. The “gift” was supposed to have been given out in the fifties and as you can see there is a model 50 shown on the cardboard poster. I think we would have to keep in mind that TV was pretty well in its infancy at this time and this type of advertisement was in fairly common use. How much of it survived to this day is the interesting question. Like the old cartridge and shotgun shell boxes, not to many have made it through in high condition.
