I have been told I should not use shells loaded with steel shot in my 1927 Model 12, 20 ga.
What are you all using as a suitable substitute?

My dad ringed the barrel of his 1955 Browning A5 by shooting steel. The ring will show up at the area where the choke starts. A cylinder choke MAY be OK. Can you shoot lead where you live?

If he’s Duck Hunting with it, he better live in a 3rd world country somewhere. As I believe all of North America does not allow hunting or possession of Lead “Toxic” Shot while duck hunting. And I’ve been told a lot of other countries have this same ban, including places like Australia.
Where I’ve always found this interesting is in regards to Dove Hunting. Only recently in my home state of Louisiana have certain parishes (way down south in the delta marshes) has restricted the use of lead shot while dove hunting. Which when you think about how many bodies of water are in Louisiana it is interesting. So I can shoot at Dove all day long on the river, on a pond or any other body of water, but not ducks. Does that make much sense? Don’t get me wrong I prefer my lead shot all day long over steel any day. But it does make one think, hmm.

I use Bismuth and Tungsten Matrix in my shotguns ,when duck hunting.Bismuth and Tungsten Matrix are both safe for older shotguns.The price of tungsten has gone through the roof here of late and so have the shells.
Of the two I prefer Bismuth.
