Was to the rifle range yesterday with a buddy.Took one of my Winchester Model 64 Deer Rifles .30-30,Winchester Model 1895 .405 and Winchester Model 9422 .22.Buddy took a Winchester Model 1907 .351,Martini Henry,.577/450 and a Martini Henry .22.
Sorry no pictures. The afternoon was great. Not too hot or too cold.Light wind and too early for flies.:)We enjoyed ourselves and burned a fair bit of powder.Hope to get out again, in the not too distant future.:)
Sounds like you had more fun than I. Cold and windy. Didn’t have enough layers on. Wind made my eyes water. My chronograph stayed upright though and I was able to get some data. Target stand stayed together. Sometimes in this canyon the wind is so bad you can’t shoot unless you want to shoot at a rock.
Yes it sounds like I did have a much nicer day at the range than you had,Chuck.Hope it is better for you the next trip.
Started to reload the cartridges I fired.Have quite a few bullets for the .405,but getting low on 170 grain bullets for the .30-30.Also getting low on IMR 3031 powder.Have not been able to find any IMR 3031 or 170 grain .30-30 bullets.
Chuck,I have other IMR powders I could use and have loads for them. Its just that I prefer IMR 3031 for the .405 and .30-30.
If I cannot find any 170 grain flat point .30-30 bullets ,I may have to get 150 grain and work up a load for them.
Chuck, I have been thinking of giving up shooting/hunting and joining Green Peace. Would you like to join up with me?
Tim, what you say is the truth.I have few buddies who were not lucky enough to get past 60 and another group who did not make it to 65..
Chuck, I agree with you about taking care of things in the woods. If I take something in,I bring it back out with me.Also many times I have brought out things that other persons have left.Well if you will not join Green Peace with me ,then I will not join either.
Have my .405 cartridges reloaded and most of my .30-30 as well.Should finish up tomorrow.

Chuck, Old age is a good problem to have! I have it as well. The alternative isn’t as good. Tim![]()
Mr. Hanes,
That is until you get so old that you have to check the label in your Skivvies just to remember what you name is that day !!

Bert,
That doesn’t always work. I got Allen’s laundry by mistake last week. The cops just about took me to jail for giving a false ID after I got stopped for backing down a one way street.

Absolutely, up to a point, because you can remember what this country used to be. But when you start forgetting who & where you are, pray someone will slip you a cyanide pill. Wish I knew someone who’d do that for me.

For Bert, I thought I WAS FRUIT! Does this mean I have to commute to the office out there?? Tim![]()
Are you sure… better check your drawers again! My wife (the bargain shopper) does not always buy mine from the same place, so the name tag in mine gets changed frequently!!

Bert, I’m old enough to know what they are. You know that. I meant that I forgot to wear any.
