i have a new england arms handy rifle was in a 45/70 when i bought it about 30 years ago and had it reamed to 45/90 now. i have loaded it with 2400 powder except for trying 4198 once. the 45/70 i used 34 grs of 2400 and the 45/90 i use 36 grs and these loads get around 1800 fps and are real accurate. i use a 300 gr. hp bullet. 2400 powder has less recoil and more velocity than the 4198 powder
