I’m sitting here and going through the pictures on my phone from the last 3 deer seasons here in Pennsylvania. I only hunt with my lever actions, no scopes. Each year I pick a different rifle or two to use and get them ready before the season. After a successful hunt I usually take a picture of the buck along with the rifle. I enjoy seeing everyone else’s Winchesters and I thought I would share the ones I have on my phone.
Two 1886s- Tkdn in 45-70 and the other is a standard rifle 38-56. The third rifle is a 26” ELW 1894 rifle, 30 W.C.F., shotgun butt.
I hope this gets some of the other members to post similar pictures.

Good job, great pics. Several years ago I used a 1905(?) vintage 1894 in 38-55 to cull a big spike on my brother’s S. Texas lease.

I can appreciate a man that still takes his vintage Winchesters afield. After all, that’s what they’re made for, right? I’ve used my various rifles in my collection here in Alaska to take over a dozen bull moose, four grizzlies, and various small game. I posted a photo of my most recent grizzly on this forum in Spring 2023. I used an 1894 in 30 WCF to take him. I too find it very satisfying to reload for these rifles and place them back in action, especially some chambered in obsolete cartridges.
What a great post with great pictures. Good to see Winchesters being used as they should be and not as safe queens!
I look forward to bagging another sambar deer down here with my .33 1886. Have some loads that I worked up, just itching to try them out hunting.
Thanks for sharing mate.
Chris
A man can never have too many WINCHESTERS...
Not too vintage, but from 1953.
32 Special with a handloaded 170gr Hornady (mv just over 2,300fps).
Taken on my own land in the MO Ozarks.
We don’t usually shoot young bucks like this, but old guy plus iron sights = leniency! Plus I am the landowner, LOL.
First post here and I don’t see that I can add a photo. 🙁

Those are some great pictures. Really like the first one with the 86.
This is one from last year with an 86 deluxe from 1902. Sorry to say I struck out this year
Wish I would have taken more photos along the way (some of these are pretty dated), but here’s a few Win’s with critters. The 38-55, 38-40, M12 20 & 12 gauge are the go-to for game around here. Couldnt resist throwing in a pic for Mike shooting “holy black” out of that 38-55 carbine. Always fun to see these kinds of photos using these guns for what they were intended.

I’m really enjoying these historical pictures that are being put up.
Chris, I can agree with you as we didn’t have the camera around back in the day as we do now with these cell phone’s on us all the time. A lot of missed opportunities in all reality.
Thanks for sharing.

Very nice, that’s a really nice boar! Thanks for the Holy Black pic, I could almost hear the boom. I wish I had a 38-55 with a better bore, I haven’t fired BP in a 38-55 in years. I used to shoot it in a Legendary Frontiersman 94, I may have to try it in a certain 120 year old 1894 rifle that’s stashed down the road aways. I used that rifle to take the aforementioned spike but the pics perished with the phone.

Your description is a duplicate of especially my last 10 years, but actually most my deer hunting career! I’ve been devoted to the 30wcf since my first Levergun of 1981. But past 10 years after I retired, I 100% was always working on, loading, shooting, scouting for a deer hunt wrapped around a particular rifle in 30wcf! This year, I went with the 270WCF which was in a Rem 700, which is fine by me, I love my 700 and also my first ever deer uding a scope! But here’s a few pics of past 10 years results mostly by my Mod 64 30-30, but couple other 30-30s, and the 700. Had a bunch good pics of it all but lost most to my last phone.
