Once again I am kicking myself. I passed the Bob Milek Memorial Range in Thermopolis on the way to Cody without stopping in to pay my respects. As far as I know he wasn’t a Winchester man but he was a cowboy who knew the value of a rifle. Works for me.
Anybody ever stopped there? I should probably send a round downrange from my T/C in 35 Remington in an attempt to let an old cowboy know we still think about him. For those of you too young to know his work, Bob was a gun writer who knew rifles, hunting, cartridges and was more than a fair gun writer. How he managed to transmit his stories from Thermopolis in the early days of Al Gore’s Internet is impressive, to say the least.
RIP, Bob Milek. Most of today’s gun writers can’t hold a candle to you and readers of today’s gun rags don’t know what they missed.
