  I use 28grs of 3031, corn meal filler, 210gr cast in Winchester mold, not sized. It gives me 1345fps. Brass is 45-70 cut to size, annealed, and re-sized in Winchester 1894 tool. Old school, fun to load, and they shoot straight. Used in three different guns.

Bill,

I load and shoot the .40-60 WCF in an original 1876 rifle.  It’s sort of like a super .44-40.  About the same weight of bullet, more powder.  Heavy rifle but I understand it was popular with wolf hunters.  Theodore Roosevelt liked the cartridge, so that is saying something.
