OfflineI know it’s not real old, but this year was my 1st to hunt with a real rifle here in Illinois. Winchester 94 Chief Crazy Horse with a Skinner peep sight. Had to put a wooden dowel in the mag tube to make it a single shot, by law in this state. 1st deer was a nice doe at 30 yards, quartering away, fell after maybe 25 yards. 2nd was the next morning 5 minutes after legal shooting light, nice 8 pointer, 88 yard shot. Ammo was my own loaded Barnes 255g .377 bullet with 2400 powder. Great to be able to hunt with this rifle. Next year is slated for the Uberti 1876 45/60.

OfflineBought if on Gunbroker many years ago. I wanted a winchester, without all the lawyer safety bs, full length barrel that wasn’t shot out. If I had to make a complaint, it would be the thin round barrel. I would have preferred an octagon barrel. But because in this crappy Demonic led state, we’re only allowed single shot’s, overheating isn’t a problem. Overall I am very happy with this rifle. Handles very well, shoot straight very accurately. I did have it drilled and tapped for a Skinner receiver peep sight, which greatly helps my eyes.
