Did this tool drop a 260 bullet?  Lee and Lyman don’t make a 40 caliber mold for 260 grain Lead–Bill

Bill,

I used to have the Winchester bullet mould for the 40-65, and it did cast bullets that were about 260 grains (+/- varied somewhat by the amount of alloy material in with lead.)  I sold that mould shortly after I sold the 1886 rifle that was chambered for 40-65.

Bill, the .40-65 Winchester (also known as .40-60 Marlin) used the same bullet as the .40-82 Winchester.  Sometimes the .40-82 mold is easier to find.

There is a nice .40-65 marked mold on evil-bay right now. There are actually two on eBay now.   Not mine.  40-65 mold eBay

Happy New Year,

Bill from Utah

I call myself a collector as it sounds better than hoarder
