Hi,
New to the forum here.
I recently picked up a model 69 with rear peep sight. The interesting thing about this rifle is that the receiver and barrel are both nickel plated. I am trying to determine if this is something that a previous owner had done or were some of the Model 69s sold like that? If it was done later it was done well as all the markings on the gun look sharp and crisp.
Thanks, Bob
I’ve never heard of nickel being offered but employees could pull off anything. Otherwise I would say after market plating.

Hi Bob,
Welcome!
Full nickel plating was offered (generically for all models) up through the 1946 catalogs in the section titled “Extras for Winchester Rifles” so technically it was available for the Model 69 but I have never seen one. The odds are that it was not done by Winchester. Are you sure it is nickel? I have seen some chromed Model 69 rifles, but again these were done after manufacture.
I would love to see pictures, you can email them to me direct to Abendshien at aol.com and I will post them here for you.
