My First Law of Detachable Box Magazines has been for many years: Don’t leave the store without 4 extras.
A truer word has seldom been spoken.
I have had that same axiom whenever I have acquired a magazine fed rifle or pistol. The magazines will never be more affordable, or more available, than the day you bring the new firearm home. I now have many spare magazines that are made of “unobtanium” in today’s market, because I went out of my way to acquire them while they could be had. Nothing is sadder than a firearm that is a “magazine orphan” for which no appropriate magazine can be found—- or if found, cannot be afforded.

Thought I’d share this nice Winchester model 52 A Sporting Rifle.A very clean and nice specimen, with a good bore to boot. All numbers are correct, and matching properly.
Correct sights. Bolt, magazine, and with the correct crown on the barrel muzzle, and original sling and swivels.
No cracks or splits in the wood, with a few handling marks, and evidence of cared for use, over the years.
Steve, (seewin), gave it his blessing a while back! In his words, “The, “A’, suffix designation, is Icing on the cake”!
According to his survey, the serial number, #41304 A, falls between, #40592-#41406, for, “A”, Sporters!
Serial number #41304 A, mfg, in late April-early May, 1936, according to Herbert Houze model 52 book.
A Thanks to Steve, as a gentleman, and a wealth of knowledge on these masterpieces. If him and JWA, ever decide to do a book on the Winchester model 52, we will all be appreciative, as I not only feel it’s needed, but the wealth of knowledge between these two gentlemen is astounding!

My Dad had a rifle that he was constantly loosing the magazine. I can’t tell you how many I had to find for him. Now the rifle is mine and it has 2 magazines that I had found. Never hurts to have extras.
You Gentleman speak the truth. IMO!
I never focused much on shooting many of my collectables as I was fortunate enough to have many other, so called non collectable firearms, and I did practice just that, I had extra magazines for the ones that required magazines, using many of you’re advice!
