Hi guys! I recently purchased a rifle I was told was a winchester model 250 deluxe. I did some checking and found out deluxe models have fancy checkering, Jeweled bolt, and white spacers. But I found a few photos online of monte Carlo stocks and what to me looked like nicer wood than mine. Just wondering if it is a deluxe or not? I attached some pictures. Thanks
If I remember correctly, all 250s were of the “deluxe” look, as compared to the lower-line model 150.
All 250s had the pressed checkering, which was eliminated later on for even more cost-cutting (the 150/250s were already a product of the “new” 1960’s Winchester cheap philosophies). If you find different from a 250 with pressed checkering, jeweled bolt, and white line stock, you’ve found late production changes, usually in the form of cost-reducing eliminations, like a smooth stock. Your fancy stock was likely an add-on, as there were replacements available for the 250 for years after they stopped production.

The Link above is to a 290 deluxe. Fancy Monte Carlo cheekpiece stock, jeweled bolt, basketweave pressed checkering and white line spacer. The 250 you have appears to be in standard configuratiuon with checkering.
I hope this is of interest.
